A minor ridge with crater rows and small shield volvanoes.

The age of the lava is unknown. An English merchants started mining almost pure sulphur under 3-4 m thick lava sheets in the mountains around 1880 but the mining activites did not last long. Still it is interesting to go and have a look at the mines! 

Location: Lies south from Brennisteinsfjöll to Herdísarvík bay.
